Jonathan Mount

Welcome to my corner of the web

Hi, I'm Jonathan.

I work in airline operations, and outside work there's no telling what I'll get interested in next. Something catches my attention, I dive in, and sometimes I end up building a whole weather map.

This is a place for things I've made, interests I keep coming back to, and whatever I'm learning along the way.

A little more about me Things I've built

Beyond the weather map

I keep coming back to old maps and family history: finding where people lived, how places have changed, and the stories that might otherwise be forgotten.

More about the things that matter to me

A curiosity that turned into a weather map

I've loved weather since I was a kid watching The Weather Channel for fun. A few weeks of following my curiosity turned into this: an aviation weather map that brings weather and air-traffic information together in one place.

It's something I build in my own time, and it's still growing as I learn and find more things I want to try.

A snapshot of the map's public view, refreshed every couple of hours. The map itself is live.

And during the workday

I help run an airline's day-to-day operation, coordinating people and decisions when weather, maintenance or other surprises change the plan. I also build tools to make that work easier. It's a good fit for someone who likes solving problems and helping people through a hard day.

You can read about my experience, explore the tools I've built at work, or say hello.
